The Ministry of Justice's Sector Group now has an opportunity for a Senior Advisor to join the Investment Team - could this be you?

About Investment Team and Sector Group :

The Investment Team sits within Sector Group. Sector Group is a set of multi-disciplinary teams that brings together the best of strategy, policy, data analysis, research and evaluation capabilities to inform decision making by leaders across the whole of the justice sector.

The Investment Team works at the nexus of strategy, data analysis, research and investment. We are a multi-disciplinary team with expertise in policy, finance, strategy and governance.

We are focused on improving investment in the Justice Sector by taking a sector-wide view to deliver ambitious results, for a safe and just New Zealand.

The team has four areas of focus :

  • co-ordinating justice system budget packages.
  • providing investment advice
  • management of justice contestable funds
  • monitoring the performance of Crown Entities.
  • About the role :

    This role is an exciting proposition for someone wanting to influence government direction at a strategic and whole of sector level.

    The role is full of intellectual challenge and stretch opportunities. You'll have the opportunity to work collaboratively with other agencies and a range of people in the Ministry of Justice.

    You will think about how they are connecting work to the longer-term vision and providing quality advice.

    To be successful in this role you will enjoy taking a strategic view to assess performance and risk in relation to crown entities.

    You will have excellent relationship management skills and a commitment to producing great work.

    You will need a passion and energy for improving justice outcomes for New Zealanders. This role would suit ambitious and talented professionals with a solid policy, analytics or crown entity background.

    While the focus of this role is on crown entities, team members will be expected to provide support in other areas of the team's work programme as required.

    To be successful in the role you will have :

  • Experience at Senior Advisor level
  • Experience in monitoring performance, or knowledge of, crown entity performance monitoring
  • Great relationship and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience communicating with a wide range of senior audiences on complex issues
  • The ability to produce and articulate analysis and advice within a bi-cultural and multi-cultural context
  • Ability to see and convey the big picture while knowing how to achieve long term change

  • Salary range : $99,413 to $140,348
