Role type : Permanent - Full TimeLocation : Wellington Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the RoleWe are looking for an experienced senior leader to develop and deliver our biosecurity surveillance and diagnostic services technology roadmap.

The role will include responsibility for ensuring the directorate leadership team maintains a strategic focus and develops an awareness of innovative technologies which could improve operational efficiencies.

This is a unique and varied role with four distinct areas of responsibility :

Management of surveillance and diagnostic technology systems, including the delivery of continuous improvement priorities.

Engagement with a wide range of stakeholders and partners, within the directorate, across Biosecurity New Zealand and MPI to interfacing with New Zealand's science community.

Interacting with MPI's Business Technology & Information Services to enable and deliver fit-for-purpose technology solutions.

Supporting governance arrangements for strategic priorities by providing advice and guidance on technology workstreams.

Proven experience in developing and improving information systems and business processes by motivating and leading multi-disciplinary teams.

Ability and track record to see the big picture', identify opportunities and find solutions to challenges and pressures

Demonstrated experience in analysing technical issues and making business decisions with financial impacts.

We also support trade by providing proof of absence of pests and diseases. Our scientific and veterinary expertise support biosecurity decision making processes for regulatory settings, responses, and organism management functions.

most preferably a NZ citizen, who has resided continuously in NZ for at least the last five (5) years, OR

is a citizen of, and / or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five (5) years : either Australia, Canada, NZ, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA);

and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.
