  • About the role

    As a Public Health Service, we are undergoing an exciting transformational change working collaboratively with our partners and using health in all policies approaches to address the determinants of health and reduce inequities and improve the health and wellbeing of our Southern communities where they live, learn, work and play.

  • Working as a Registered Nurse - Public Health for the Southern DHB, your work will cover a variety of Health Protection programme areas;
  • including communicable disease, COVID-19 and environmental health issues.

    About the opportunity

    You will be joining a vibrant team that has a wide variety of roles and areas of work with a large focus on COVID-19 Response for Case Investigation and Contact Management.

    It provides a great opportunity to learn a wide scope of areas in public health while using your registered nursing qualifications.

    You will be working alongside the Team Leader and the other Nurses to ensure that appropriate measures are in place, including the examination and implementation of standard operating procedures in regards to our COVID resurgence readiness .

    About you

    You will be committed to the principles of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi and be actively engaging with the Māori community and stakeholders, and able to applyTe Pae Mahutonga in your work.

    Requirements for the role :

  • Current active APC registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand as a Registered or Enrolled Nurse
  • Community nursing experience would be advantageous
  • The ability to fully don and doff the required PPE, training will be provided
  • Due to the ongoing service wide Public Health Covid19 response, a proven ability to work under pressure is essential. COVID-19 case investigation and contact tracing has become a large part of the role and does require work on-call for weekends and the need to surge into different rosters.
