Finance and Administration Manager

Ocean Shell Ltd Invercargill, South Island

Part-time finance / accounts position 30hours per week with opportunity to increase to full-time if desired.

Option for full-time 40 hours if preferred.

MYOB Exo experience preferable

About you

You will be a well organised person with good finance, accounting administration - preferably multicurrency, and HR / Payroll experience in New Zealand.

You enjoy working with people, have great interpersonal skills and look for opportunities to be involved in other aspects of the business beyond your day to day financial responsibilities.

You will need to be able to work independently and ensure the job gets done. This is a sole responsibility role, so you'll need to be prepared to put your hand to variety of tasks to get the job done.

About the Role

Manage our accounts including receivable and payables, in both NZD and USD and completing our statutory returns and payments (e.

g. GST, PAYE, GET, FBT and Income Tax).

Accounting / ERP system used is MYOB Exo, experience using this system is preferred

Daily receipting of payments

Run the fortnightly payroll and ensure our HR systems and processes are confidentially and competently managed.

Assist the shell trading team with account reconciliations and export documentation (training provided)

This role will suit a hands-on person who has proven experience in a similar finance / accounting role, is adaptable and keen to be part of a small team where we lend a hand as or when required.

Support will be given by the owners and accountant where required, and detailed instructions will be available for most tasks and processes.

Although this position is finance and administration related, if you have a creative streak or a passion for natural materials and can get excited about our products and where they end up, you will thrive in this business!

This is a great opportunity for someone who adapts easily into new environments, has a positive attitude and thirst for continuous improvement.

Applicants must be eligible to work in New Zealand.

This is a permanent, part time position for 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Although full-time hours would be considered for the right candidate.

Immediate start preferred.

Ocean Shell is a hands-on family business with a small friendly team who take pride in sourcing, making and selling Paua and Mother of Pearl shells in many forms to a wide variety of customers both in New Zealand and around the world.

Our customers range from large jewellery companies, to hobby guitar makers, DIY home crafters to some of the worlds most talented furniture makers.

Our shells can be found adorning Tommy Hilfiger shirts, Middle Eastern palace walls, on music stages in guitars, medieval film sets, or fishing lures.

Perhaps you've seen our rimu and paua shell platters and salad servers at your friends dinner party, or taken some of our kiwiana souvenir's as a gift on your latest overseas holiday.
