This position is responsible for the completion of operational tasks and supporting scientific research in the nursery.

This includes work in the Scion nursery facilities and field site locations. The job mostly includes planting, cultivating, measuring, harvesting, and transplanting of tree species of varying grades and propagation methods.

Tasks will include, amongst other day-to-day nursery tasks, assisting with :

  • Meticulous data collection and record-keeping.
  • Assist researchers with managing trials ensuing the highest quality science outcomes.
  • The setting of cuttings, both bare-root and container-grown.
  • Lifting and packaging of bare-root and container crops, ready for dispatch.
  • Hand-sowing of seed and pricking-out of new crops.
  • Training in, and operation of, mechanised propagation equipment.
  • As required, be trained in or receive training for safe and efficient tractor and quad-bike operation.
  • As required, be trained in or receive training and certificates (e.g., GrowSafe and / or Safe Chemical Handling) for safe and efficient agri-chemical handling and application.
  • Potential for assistance with management of crop system automation (for candidates with relevant experience in this area)

  • NOTE : Due to client contracts, appointments to these positions may be subject to drug and alcohol testing. Medical clearance will be required upon appointment to these roles.
