  • Northpower has an opportunity for an engaging and confident individual to join their Auckland Contracting team in the capacity of a trainer / coach and auditor / assessor and general mentor for the Reactive and Switching field staff.

    You will be spending 70% of your time on site observing and completing advisory and assessment work as well as providing education and development in the field / classroom.

    30% of your time will be spent updating audit / training management systems, reporting and developing material.

    There may be some requirement for work outside of normal hours.

  • Support the Reactive Performance Manager in all training, compliance and mentoring needs
  • Provide industry-based development to NZQA standards both onsite as well as in the classroom
  • Carry out competency assessments as applicable to Vector's WTC framework and all other applicable regulations and requirements
  • Carry out site inspections and accurately report findings
  • Facilitate tail gate meetings and provide mentoring and assistance to site management
  • Work with staff to identify HSQE and operational improvements
  • As part of the Change control process you will provide technical advice
  • Ensure all paperwork and reporting is up to date and accurate
  • Acquire and keep up to date with all competencies and qualifications required for the role
  • You will be a safety champion and foster key stakeholder relationships
  • From time to time you may undertake switching functions
  • Skills and Experience

  • Registered Line Mechanic or similar (cable jointer / technician). Must be able and confident to write and undertake network switching tasks.
  • Level 4 Workplace Training and Assessment qualification is highly advantageous but solid experience and the willingness to learn will be considered
  • Auditing experience advantageous.
  • A background in the Electrical Distribution industry with solid knowledge around key risks and controls.
  • Proven training and presentation ability
  • Ability to foresee challenges, read situations and respond effectively
  • The confidence to intervene in a positive manner when unsafe practices are observed
  • Excellent ability to build and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships
