This is a fixed term role from 7 October 2019 - 9 October 2020.

Are you keen to do your bit to protect conservation? Do you enjoy working in the outdoors and want to have the Pureora Forrest as your backyard?

Do you want the opportunity to support our wider biodiversity programme because you are passionate about wildlife? If yes, then this is the job for you!

You will be part of the Biodiversity team focusing on mustelid and rodent control at a number of locations within the Pureora Forest Park.

In particular for whio protection in Southern Pureora Forest and long and short-tailed bat protection in the Pikiariki Ecological Area.

This position will require you to work unsupervised for the most part. There will also be opportunities to help our other operational programmes within this role.

The role will be based in Pureora Village and you will be responsible for day to day organisation of your work.

Key skills you will need :

  • A positive attitude
  • Be able to maintain positive working relationships across a broad range of people and groups
  • Be physically fit
  • A high awareness of Health and Safety
  • A valid driver's licence
  • Fit into the culture of the Maniapoto team
  • Wildlife handling and trapping experience would be advantageous
  • Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
