Senior Business Analyst

  • The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) is the lead agency for the social sector. We help the Government to set priorities across the sector, co-ordinate the actions of other social sector agencies and track changes in the social wellbeing of New Zealanders.

    Who’s the team?

    We are seeking a Business Analyst to join the Service Delivery team. This role will get involved with different business groups, working to understand and identify their needs and lead solution focused options.

    We have a complex work programme and you will need to be able to provide high quality advice on business issues in a range of areas.

    You will be working as part of an Agile product delivery team that is focused on making a difference in the lives of New Zealanders.

    We are looking for a clear thinker with a natural attention to detail. You should feel comfortable working 2-3 sprints ahead of the development team to ensure that all user stories are well defined and fully fleshed out in preparation for upcoming sprints.

    Responsibilities :

  • Engage with stakeholders, delivery team members and vendors.
  • Understand, communicate and document process, workflows, requirements and solutions.
  • Analyse and understand business needs.
  • Create fit for purpose user stories / requirements with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Facilitate requirements gathering workshops.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Provide reporting and feedback to the wider team.
  • Experience you’ll bring :

  • Experience working as a Business Analyst in an Agile environment.
  • Experience creating user stories.
  • Experience defining business requirements.
  • Experience with design principles and Customer Experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • The salary range for this role is $95k - $115k depending on skills and experience.
