Working from our Richmond office and reporting to the Finance Manager, this full-time leadership position is responsible for providing financial strategy and policy advice to the Leadership Team and Full Council on the management of Council's income from rates, fees, charges and any other income sources.
You will be responsible for the collection of rates and other revenue sources. You will also manage an outstanding team of eight, with four direct reports.
You will be reliable, organised and pro-active, with a can-do' attitude and curious nature. Your ability to interpret legislation and policy, and then apply it to real-life situations, will be key.
We're looking for proven leadership, staff management and mentoring skills and a strong commitment to teamwork. Ideally, you'll also have previous rating management experience and an understanding of the legislative environments of New Zealand local authorities.
However, if you have the right attitude and approach we will train you in these areas if you don't have prior experience.
