We have an exciting vacancy in our Operations team based at the Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park Visitor Centre. We need an individual, who is a proven effective team player, is great at communication and has a passion for New Zealand's flora, fauna and ensuring our visitors are safe and informed while visiting this special part of the country.

He angitūtanga : About the Role

As a key member of our small tight knit team, you will help deliver :

  • an exceptional experience for all visitors off Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park and the Visitor Centre
  • up to date information about current and forecasted weather and condition of tracks and huts
  • high health & safety standards, personally and for visitors
  • information about recreational opportunities locally and throughout the country and local conservation projects
  • promotion and sale of conservation merchandise and the core range of DOC products
  • promotion of national campaigns which e.g. Conservation Week
  • high standards in compliance and cleaning for our White Horse Hill campground
  • He kōrero mōu : What we are looking for

    The successful applicant will ideally have :

  • enjoy interacting with the public and telling the DOC stories
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to maintain high standards while working under pressure
  • problem solving abilities, initiative, and a positive can-do' attitude
  • responsible and reliable team player
  • ability to learn quickly and adapt to change
  • understanding of recreation and tourism opportunities throughout New Zealand and knowledge of conservation or recreational activities available in Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park
  • experience / demonstrated competence in customer service, cash handling and computer skills
  • high standards in compliance and cleaning of public facilities
