    Transpower's Whakamana i Te Mauri Hiko - Empowering Our Energy Future reports outlines that electrification and renewable generation can provide over 50% of the non-forestry emissions reductions to achieve New Zealand's net carbon zero target by 2050 while significantly reducing household energy bills.

    About the team

    To enable this future, our Grid Delivery division is accountable for delivery of all work across the national transmission network.

    This includes project and maintenance work, delivered in conjunction with our service provider organisations. Transpower delivers approximately $300M capex and $100M in opex projects per annum.

    Within Grid Delivery, the Delivery Performance and Support team, encompasses four areas; Business Improvement and Performance, Quality and Compliance, PMO, and Project Support.

    The Opportunity

    You'll lead our geographically dispersed Performance & Contracts team of five, who overview our contractual performance with our Service Providers and support our Grid Delivery business to improve performance.

    You'll collaborate with our Regional Service Managers to lead and drive a commercial focus via insights, and key performance indicators to optimise value from within, and from commercial arrangements against a billion-dollar contract for outsourced work on the Grid.

    You'll be an experienced and pragmatic people leader, with outstanding influencing skills and the passion and resilience required to drive long term continuous improvement.

    You'll have previously bought to life visibility and insights on performance, understanding not only the value of good process, and formalised benchmarking, but the equal importance of ensuring KPIs create actions within the business.

    What we are looking for

    A future focused, hands-on leader who can take an enterprise view but has the pragmatism and curiosity to drop in and out of the detail and understand the drivers behind performance to continuously improve what we do.

    You'll be degree qualified with a finance / commercial background in large commercial organisations, that has honed your ability to identify potential improvements or efficiencies without blame.

    Your ability to lead and listen, whilst driving for clarity and better performance results, will bring people together to achieve and celebrate success.

  • To be shortlisted your CV and cover letter will clearly demonstrate;
  • Experience in leading teams and projects in a matrix environment
  • Significant contract management experience and demonstrated ability to drive value and continuous improvement within an agreed contractual framework
  • Experience and understanding of effective benchmarking and KPIs that enable insights and action
  • An understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning systems and the key processes behind them
  • Exceptional ability to negotiate and influence at all levels, enterprise wide
  • Some experience mapping strategy to business outcomes and change initiatives to guide business decision-making on investment decisions is advantageous.
