Are you a self-motivated, analytical thinker with a commitment to high-quality outputs? Whakatane District Council is seeking a planner with some experience to fill an important role in our professional, customer-focused planning team.

In this role you will help to deliver Council's planning consents services, including providing advice and assistance to internal and external stakeholders.

Day-to-day tasks will include evaluating and assessing building consents, completing Land Information Memoranda applications, providing advice on the Resource Management Act and District Plan, and producing and presenting reports to Council committees on planning matters.

A relevant tertiary qualification, excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships are all key requirements for this full-

time, permanent role. Relevant experience in a similar role is desirable.

You will need :

  • A relevant Bachelor degree in Resource Management, Geography or Environmental Management
  • Strong time management skills and sound research methodologies
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work well independently, and within a team.
