Fisheries New Zealand is a new business unit established within the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) to drive a stronger focus on managing New Zealand's valuable fisheries resources and their place in the wider marine environment.
We are looking for an Executive Coordinator to provide dedicated executive management support to the Director Fisheries Science & Information, and some support to the wider Directorate.
The role also contributes to cross Branch activities, to build a cohesive approach to business support, and supports priority events or specific pieces of work.

You will be responsible the Director's daily schedule to ensure a seamless and clear flow of information and related commitments through effective diary, event and meeting management and the provision of effective personal assistance / secretarial services.
You will have a reputation for being the go-to-person who can juggle multiple priorities and deadlines in a professional and upbeat manner.
Your eye for the important will allow you to coordinate a busy diary and keep track of the business of the branch,
You'll undertake all the usual Executive Coordinator duties and you need to be able to show initiative, learn how the Director operates and make decisions on their behalf within agreed parameters.
Our ideal candidate will have worked in the public sector and have a good understanding of the machinery of government. In addition, you will have the ability to prioritise, remain calm and focussed under pressure, and have previous experience providing 1 : 1 support at a senior level as well as providing excellent support to the rest of the team.

Of course you will have the ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and discretion, confidence to operate in a degree of ambiguity, be flexible and adaptable.
Your role may involve coordinating of team functions, managing reports, collating data, providing the wider team with support, arranging travel.
This role requires excellent relationship management skills as you will be interacting with senior level managers both within MPI and externally.
You will have a reputation for being the go-to person, who exceeds all expectations whilst juggling multiple priorities and deadlines.
If you have good people skills, are agile, flexible and can handle a fast paced environment then this is the role for you.
