The TEC Te Amorangi Mātauranga Matua is a small Crown agency with a big job to do : ensuring all New Zealanders can gain the skills and the knowledge they need to build a great life and ensure New Zealand thrives.
We're seeking a Principal Advisor to join our Operational Strategy team. The team's focus is on developing shorter-term initiatives that are aligned with achieving the TEC's longer-term goals and the Government's Tertiary Education Strategy.
The team has close links across the business that are critical to driving success through our careers and investment levers.
What will you be doing?
Helping to develop and communicate our strategic priorities for our annual $2.8 billion investment round.
Leading operational strategy projects to actively shape and influence the tertiary education and careers system to achieve our longer-term strategic goals.
Using data and information from our customers learners, industry bodies, education providers and others in the public sector to develop implementable strategies.
Working closely with the Ōritetanga / Learner Success Team to make a significant difference for Māori and Pacific learners.
Engaging at senior levels across the TEC and with other agencies such as the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, and the New Zealand Qualifications Authority.
What can you bring?
Strategy or implementation experience at a Principal level ideally you will have led successful public sector projects.
Stakeholder management skills that enable you to get the most out of interactions with colleagues and customers.
Ability to select and synthesise data and information to support the development of strategies and options.
Ability to coach and mentor more junior members of the team.
Knowledge of public policy and the tertiary education and careers systems.

$118k-145k+, depending on relevant experience.
