An exciting opportunity has become available for a Summer Ranger within the Central Otago District team.

An exciting opportunity is available to work in the Wanaka / Makarora area focussing on the Gillespie Pass Circuit for a fixed term of 13 weeks.

He angitūtanga : About the Role

As our next Summer Ranger, you will be responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of the backcountry huts, hut warden duties, track work and providing cover for other Ranger duties across the district.

He kōrero mōu : What we are looking for

  • Previous hut warden experience
  • Able to use weed eaters / scrub bars
  • Previous experience with maintenance of small petrol-driven engines
  • Able to apply practical maintenance skills for hut and track maintenance
  • Experience with volunteers and working with others.
  • Has a current First Aid certificate
  • Has a current Full Driver's Licence
  • Has a knowledge of field delivery work
  • High Level of Physical Fitness
  • Experience in the New Zealand Backcountry
