    The Team : What we do

    We have an opportunity for nurses with either previous experience or a passion for the Child Health care specialty to join our paediatric medical team.

    Ward A7 / Children s High Care comprises of a 24 bed ward and 8 bed high dependency unit. Ward A7 is a medical specialties and infant surgery ward.

    Children s High Care caters for infants, children and young people from every specialty area who need a higher level of monitoring.

    Our team works across both these areas and full orientation is provided for our new staff.

    Here is an opportunity to join our cohesive and supportive nursing team and to be involved in paediatric care at the CDHB.

    Ward A7 / Children s High Care are part of our new Waipapa hospital building, on the edge of the picturesque Hagley Park.

    The Role : Where you fit in

    This role will enable you to grow as a paediatric nurse by giving you opportunities to learn and develop your own skills while in turn you can share with us your skills and help us invest in the well-being and improve outcomes for the children and families of Canterbury.

    Recent paediatric experience would be an advantage but candidates with recent medical-surgical experience are also encouraged to apply.

    You will have :

  • A passion to engage with and provide holistic care for children and their families.
  • The ability to work efficiently and effectively in a dynamic multidisciplinary team.
  • The ability to work well under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Confidence, initiative and a proactive, solution focused approach to work.
  • Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC
  • Should have the ability to work rostered shifts in a multi-disciplinary team
