We are looking to employ a Skilled Labourer or Handyperson / Carpenter to join our team based in Hastings on a permanent, full-time basis (40 hours per week).

Recreational Service's business is built around providing full facility parks and open spaces maintenance services, across New Zealand, achieved with a highly engaged team of 600 great people.

Here at Recreational Services we have the job to keep the parks and recreation assets in Hastings district in good working order for visitors and residents.

Our Response Operators are skilled and resourceful people who can turn their hand to any job that needs doing, drawing on their building or practical handyman skills and experience.

Responding to minor projects and daily call outs for the repair and maintenance of assets in parks and recreation spaces.

the work is varied and could include installation of bollards, picnic tables, park signs and park benches, implementing new plantings, as well as hard landscaping.

No two days are the same!

Skills and Experience

  • You'll be using your practical skills which you may have gained from working in the building or related industries
  • If you've done the hard yards and are qualified even better. This may be the role that lets you work on different types of projects.
  • Be able to interpret building plans, hard and soft landscaping skills, carpentry, concreting, and machinery operations
  • A current, full class 1 driver's licence with the ability to drive a manual is essential
  • Have a great work ethic and be able to demonstrate positive behaviours to health and safety
  • You'll need to be self motivated and be able to work alone at times. For the big jobs, you've got the support of our team to help out.
  • A high standard of work, including working with our Health and safety protocols and policies is a must. There are alot of people depending on us to keep things working.
