Grow your economics career at Infometrics Infometrics is a great place to put your passion for economics into practice You will work with a team of top economists who grapple with cutting edge economic and policy issues ranging from the impact of automation on future skills though to climate change and immigration and skills policy We give our economists autonomy and encourage them to work in areas they are passionate about We believe people perform best when they are doing what they love We embrace innovation and technology to make economic data and information accessible to a wide audience Our technology enables us to spend less time grappling with data and more time working with our clients on what it means Our economists are not desk bound and our positions offer lots of people contact You will be out and about interacting with a diverse range of clients from chief executives to policy analysts right across New Zealand We offer extremely flexible working conditions Most of our economists work at home at least a few days a week For the right candidate we will consider remote working from a location outside of Wellington We are family friendly so enable you to work around family commitments We give unlimited sick leave A varied role with lots of client contact The role offers variety and you will work across all parts of our consulting business The senior economist will maintain relationships with existing clients We have clients from the bottom of the South to the top of the North who subscribe to our regional economic products Our clients love our products and you will support them with advice workshops and presentations You will regularly be visiting and meeting with clients and will become a hub of economic development knowledge among our regional clients You will lead major consulting projects from conception proposal writing data analysis project management report writing to presenting the results to the client We build and maintain economic models in Excel and R You may be involved with improving our models or building new models We pride ourselves in exceptional presentation of data and analysis You will have the opportunity to conceptualise innovative ways of presenting complex economic information to a wide audience Desired qualifications skills and attributes You will have an economics degree preferably postgraduate Five or more years experience in an economics role Work experience in a commercial environment would be beneficial Broad knowledge of the New Zealand economy and issues confronting it A knowledge of regional economic development labour markets and working with iwi would be welcomed You will have outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate economic concepts to a nontechnical audience At times you will need to work under pressure and meet deadlines For this you need to be organised with good time management skills We work collaboratively so you will be a strong team player Coding skills especially in R and knowledge of business intelligence software would be desirable About Infometrics Infometrics is a leading economics consultancy based in Wellington Infometrics has transformed the way economic information is communicated in New Zealand Our webbased products make complex economic data and insights highly accessible to decision makers We are a small team of talented professionals We work collaboratively and celebrate creative and innovative thinking Worklife balance is important to us Infometrics offer a mix of competitive salary interesting and challenging work and highly flexible work conditions Applying for the role Applications close on Friday 6 December 2019 For more information please contact Andrew Whiteford on 021 212 3864
