We are looking for Navigators to join our Sustaining Tenancies service in Hamilton.

  • National provider of a diverse range of services to whānau, including Health and Disability, Youth and Transitional Housing
  • Provide support to people and their whanau, who are at risk of losing their tenancy, sustain or maintain suitable housing
  • About the role

    Providing support from within our Emergency Housing service, this role is focused on providing practical support to people to retain their tenancies and work through any issues that may be impacting the tenancy.

    You will be focused on guiding tenants through the Ministry of Social Development system, accessing health and education services where required, to enable whānau to reconnect with their wider community and ultimately sustain their tenancy.

    The service delivery side of this role will require you to work and coordinate with your colleagues in tandem to support whānau through their journey, providing a safe environment and supporting them with their goals and daily tasks.

    This is a permanent, full-time position working Monday to Friday between the hours of 8.00am - 8.00pm.

  • What you need;
  • Previous experience working within emergency housing in a similar role
  • Knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act, especially an understanding of issues that can lead to a breach or put a housing tenancy at risk
  • It's desirable that you'll have a level 4 or 5 qualification in Mental Health and Addiction or Social Services
  • Ability to liaise with a variety of referral sources and other providers
  • Proven relationship management skills and experience
  • It's essential that you have a full New Zealand driving licence
  • Strong computer skills, a 'can-do' attitude and be able to demonstrate strong personal and professional boundaries.
