Dunedin Public Libraries is looking for a dynamic, empathetic, community focused person, who ideally has experience working with a diverse range of youth, and groups that support youth (13-24 years).
This role will work closely with the Manager City Libraries and the Youth Services Supervisor in supporting our Dunedin youth stay connected with their local libraries by undertaking outreach to connect with groups or people working closely with youth with the goal of connecting young people to our physical and digital collections, and programmes.
and assist with the coordination of suitable tutors and / or helpers with an afterschool homework group.
The Youth Engagement Coordinator, in consultation with library team leaders, will develop and coordinate a full and interesting experience in all facets of library work for Māori and Pasifika youth that exposes them to the library environment and promotes libraries as a possible future career path.
This is an exciting opportunity that would possibly suit a recent graduate with a youth focus in an area such as Library Studies, Education, Social work, or Occupational Therapy.
The role requires a sound knowledge of Tikanga Māori and Mātauranga Māori, and the ability to connect with the Māori and Pasifika Communities of Dunedin.
Applicants should possess demonstrated experience with programme development and delivery, and experience in a supervisory role.
Fixed term 12 Months 37.5 hours per week, some evening and weekend work as required.
This role has become available through the New Zealand Libraries Partnership Programme and is for a fixed term period through to November 2022.
