  • Mō tēnei tūrangi mahi About this role Our programme of work is focussed on strengthening our organisational culture, capability, and systems.

    We are embarking on a journey to incorporate Mātauranga Māori into our wider programme of work to meet the Ministry's overall people strategy (Tangata Ora).

    This work includes the implementation of Whāinga Amorangi (Māori Crown Relations Capability Strategy) and the development of our Māori capability framework, as well as supporting the Kaiako Te Ara Reo Māori (Te reo Māori Learning Facilitator).

    In this role you will lead a variety of complex and challenging organisational and learning and development initiatives that contribute to a wider commitment to improve the Ministry's relationship with our Treaty partners.

    You will support these new ways of working / thinking through embedding new practices. The work is varied, so prioritising work demands for impact of the strategy is key to the success of the role.

    Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako Skills and experience We are looking for an individual who is confident / competent with Mātauranga Māori, as well as knowledge of Te Reo and organisational development (OD) and learning and development (L&D) experience.

    You will be a natural at whakawhanaungatanga, working collaboratively and possess a natural curiosity for organisational development.

    Your ability to awhi staff to become champions of Te Ao Hurihuri in their respective work programmes is essential.You will also bring :

  • Demonstrated experience and comfort to provide advice in at least two of the following :
  • Te Ao Māori : Tikanga / kawa, pūtaiao Māori, mātauranga o te taiao or other mātauranga
  • Te reo Māori me ōna tikanga
  • Te Ao Kāwantanga : human resources, organisational development, change management, and project management
  • Ability to partner effectively with leaders, colleagues who are leading the transition to our new way of working, to establish credibility and relationships of influence.
  • An ability to understand business process quickly and provide advice that benefits Māori-Crown relations is essential.
  • Commitment to working in a way that maintains the mana of others, Te Tiriti partnership and naturally builds whanaungatanga and demonstrates manaaki.
  • An understanding of the machinery of government is desirable.
