    About the role

    The School of Health & Counselling is looking for a highly motivated experienced counsellor (member of NZAC accredited or similar professional body) preferably with teaching and education experience in the tertiary sector and a Master's degree, to join our team.

    We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated person who has the drive and passion for teaching excellence.

    This role will involve :

  • Planning and delivering courses using effective teaching methods and materials appropriate to the students and alignment with our program document.
  • Ensuring all assessments, marking, feedback, moderation, and reassessment are completed as per programme document and MIT policies and guidelines.
  • Facilitating interactive teaching sessions both in class and online
  • Provide necessary academic and pastoral support to learners
  • Have meetings with learners on practicum placement
  • Liaising with industry stakeholders
  • Collaborating with placement coordinator to ensure students have relevant placement experiences
  • Research outputs
  • Skills and experience

  • Bachelor degree or higher
  • Post Graduate / masters qualification preferred
  • Relevant discipline-based practice
  • An adult teaching qualification at level 5 or above
  • Experience in teaching and / or mentoring adults
  • Experience in working with diverse groups of people
  • Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills
  • Experience in teaching and assessment of students
  • Self starter with good sense of humour, patience and flexibility
  • Ability to lead and work as part of a team and be adept at using your initiative
