The Free and Healthy School Lunches Programme is a new initiative, first announced by the Prime Minister in August 2019.
It is part of the Government's new Child and Youth Wellbeing Strategy.
This programme aims to provide access to a nutritious lunch in school every day.
Bay Catering is excited to be working alongside the government to provide these healthy lunches to schools for Term 4 of the 2020 school year.
This first roll-out of the Budget 2020 expansion will see up to 151 schools and kura joining the programme.
In order to provide this service, we are looking for an experienced Kitchen Manager to lead the day to day operations of our busy School Lunches team.
As Kitchen Manager, you will utilise your team building and leadership skills to train, develop and inspire a team of production staff.
You will manage the timely purchasing of all goods to meet forecasted demand and manage all purchase orders and the purchasing function end to end.
This role consists of ensuring lunch items are produced according to our menu, quality checking and organising the various carriers and outbound distribution.
Implementing ways to improve production and minimising waste will be ongoing projects.
To be successful in this role you will have previous experience in the daily supervision of staff and the ability to roster staff to ensure optimal efficiencies in a food production or catering environment.
You will have a good understanding of food and hygiene standards and will ensure all areas under your supervision satisfy the most stringent hygiene requirements.
