  • Our client is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that applies dispute resolution methods to resolve complaints companies are unable to resolve with their customers.

    They are one of the most long-standing respected consumer dispute resolution organisations in Aotearoa.

    Their people and Board have a strong sense of purpose - they also have passion and excitement for the work they do. They are driven to improve wellbeing outcomes for the communities they serve, including the public, their partners, and providers.

    The main purpose of your role will be to support the organisation as they align themselves with the values of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and The Treaty of Waitangi.

    You will be instrumental in assisting them to develop their ability to offer tikanga-based dispute resolution and ensure Māori interests are promoted and represented in all the work they do.

    This is a part-time role (approximately one day per week) designed to offer a great work-life balance. It may be suited to someone who performs a similar role for other organisations.

    Person Profile :

  • Fluency in Te Reo Māori
  • Demonstrated understanding and respect for Kaupapa Māori and people
  • An expert in Te Ao Māori, Tikanga and Te Tiriti O Waitangi
  • Experience of working with tāngata Māori and / or Māori organisations
  • Experience in assisting an organisation to improve its ability to incorporate culturally responsive practices
  • A proven ability to foster connections to iwi and / or marae
  • Experienced in delivering Te Ao Māori training programmes
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral with the ability to speak to people from all backgrounds
  • Knowledge or understanding of dispute resolution and an understanding of the role tikanga plays in dispute resolution (advantage)
  • The ability to identify, avoid and manage potential conflicts of interest
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and work without supervision
  • Demonstrated experience of supporting and implementing projects
