The role : We are looking for doctors to join our full time team who can explain complex medical situations to our patients with ease and confidence.
Doctors who thrive in this role enjoy spending time on the phone, listening to our patients’ needs and answering their questions, creating a coherent story from complex medical records, and serving as an advocate for these patients as they attempt to obtain further care.
Strong candidates will be able to communicate in patient-friendly language (not medical-ese ) both verbally and in writing.
It is important to feel comfortable discussing medical conditions from a wide variety of specialties.
Certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Med-Peds required *This is a work-from-home opportunity
This is a full-time position, with the ability to work until 6pm local time
During Your First 30 Days, You Will :
Onboard with the Grand Rounds Medical Team
Participate in training on simulated Grand Rounds Expert Opinion cases and hone your writing skills
Begin taking on Grand Rounds Expert Opinion cases with guidance and feedback from senior Grand Rounds doctors
During Your First 60 Days, You Will :
Continue managing Grand Rounds Expert Opinion cases with guidance and feedback and transition to taking on cases independently
Learn about other aspects of Grand Rounds patient care including Office Visits, Patient Follow-up and Treatment Decision Support
During Your First 90 Days, You Will :
Continue to manage cases across all Grand Rounds servicelines
Begin participating in various projects and initiatives in addition to your regular case work
Serve as a clinical mentor to colleagues, lead small group discussions on various healthcare topics, and participate in other activities related to raising the clinical excellence of your team members
Talk with patients over the phone and / or video to assess their needs and gather important clinical history
Review and summarize medical records into a concise HPI
Review expert opinions for quality assurance and to ensure they are written at the patient’s level
Follow up with patients / guardians to answer any questions they may have about their expert opinion
Help patients navigate through complex medical conditions, through their current treatment pathway, and through the healthcare system in general
Assist in identifying the highest quality personal physician to meet an individual patient’s needs
Work with the rest of our medical team to optimize our patients’ experience
Licensed physician in good standing with the medical board of his / her state
Have completed residency and practiced for several years (desired, not required)
Board certified (or board-eligible if taking boards this year)
Comfortable discussing medical conditions from a wide variety of specialties (not just what you trained in)
Primary care / IM / hospital medicine backgrounds preferred
Highly Empathetic. You’ll work with patients and their families who are going through challenging times. You need to keep perspective, be empathetic, and be reassuring that you will help them
Be efficient. We are a fast growing company and we are busy! You will have lots of work to do and will be expected to meet volume goals without sacrificing quality.
We’ll give you the tools you need to succeed, but you’ll have to be an efficient worker
Be flexible and comfortable with working in a rapidly-changing environment. Grand Rounds is constantly evolving, and our clinicians need to able to thrive in these types of situations
Handle a fast-paced environment with competing priorities. You need good judgement to appropriately juggle your responsibilities
Be able and willing to work until 6pm PT, with occasional weekend commitments as well
Strictly follow security and HIPAA regulations to protect our patients’ medical information
Be pleasant, responsive, and willing to work with and learn from our team
Excel at communicating with patients and physicians, and enjoy doing so
Have excellent grammar, attention to detail, and be efficient at writing medical information at a patient level
