    Live Life DisabilitySupport Services (DSS) provide support to people who have disabilities to livegreat lives. DSS provides support to over 250 people in a variety ofresidential and respite settings across the Nelson / Tasman and Marlborough regions.

    We support each person to manage their dayto day lives in ways and at times that work for them. The people we supporthave a wide range of abilities and challenges.

  • Some people need support withtheir personal care and taking care of household tasks; some need support toparticipate and go out-and-about and join in social and leisure activities;
  • andsome need communication and behavioural support.

    We actively encourage people to pursue their dreamsand try out new experiences, and can guarantee that no two days working at DSSare ever the same.

    We also work collaboratively and in partnershipwith Mental Health and Addictions, Youth Justice, Oranga Tamariki, and othercommunity organisations to meet the needs of people we support.

    N.B. Disability SupportServices are part of Nelson Marlborough Health, we are not however amedical / clinical service. We are a community based disability supportservice focused on quality of life outcomes and the Enabling Good LivesPrinciples.

    Ngā mōhiohio e pā ana ki tēnei mahi (About this position)

    We have apermanent part-time position available working an average of 37.33 hours afortnight, over a 6 week rotating roster cycle (0.47FTE).

    Shift : 4.00PM to 8.00PM .

    Roster : 4 shifts on, 2 shifts off .

    Yourfortnightly hours will vary as follows : FN1 : 32 hrs, FN2 : 40 hrs, FN3 : 40 hrs.

    We are looking for people from allwalks of life with a can-do attitude, who can work with children and adults aspart of a proactive support team.

    You will follow individual plans andunderstand the importance of consistency in assisting people to achieve a greatlife.

  • The ability to work with people who present with challenging behaviours
  • Diversity to work with a range of people with differing levels of support needs
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality, be tactful and sensitive in dealing with people
  • Commitment to professional development
  • An ability to work actively as part of a team and individually to ensure service quality
  • Good English language ability (written and spoken)
  • Basic maths and computing skills
  • Confidence in assisting with personal cares
  • Energy and enthusiasm
  • A current full driver’s licence (confident driving both automatic and manual vehicles)
  • NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 2 to 4) or equivalent is preferred
  • Your hourly rate willbe $21.50 to $27.00 dependent upon your qualifications as recognised under theCare and Support Workers (Pay Equity) Settlement Act 2017.

    This position isclassified by Immigration as ANZSCO 423111 and applicants for this positionmust be NZ or Australian Citizens, or have NZ Permanent Residency, or a validNZ work visa.

    Appointment andongoing employment will be conditional upon criminal record / police checks - youmust declare any convictions and / or pending charges on your application form.

    This will include checks under the Children Act 2014.

    For the health andsafety of both staff and patients, and in line with the Health Order, all NMHstaff are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
