About the opportunity

Transpower has invested in modernising its approach to Office 365 governance and operations. Based on the established principles, the Platform Specialist role has been re-defined to focus mainly on Office 365 with more of a proactive paradigm, including architectural responsibilities, rather than purely incident and request management.

As well as providing specialist L3 support and being the point of escalation for the Office 365 System Specialist, the Platform Specialist delivers new features and enhancements through continuous service improvement.

This role contributes to the planning, prioritisation and design of Office 365 services, governance and support processes, representing a holistic platform-wide technical view.

There'll be a lot to keep you busy and challenged over the next 18 months, including embedding the new Operating Model, evolving Office 365 services, contributing to a clear Roadmap for Office 365 and ensuring that incidents and service requests are well managed.

About you

Based in Wellington ('the Coolest Little Capital in the World') you will interact with a wide variety of audiences across Transpower, therefore a customer-centric approach coupled with strong written and verbal communication skills to convey complex technical concepts simply, is essential.

Your experience of working in a cross-functional team and doing what it takes for the team to achieve outcomes - whether it be the delivery of new capability or supporting existing functions - will be the key to providing an amazing user experience to our people.

To be considered, your CV and covering letter must demonstrate :

  • Minimum of 3 years proven experience designing and operating the Office 365 platform (SharePoint Online, PowerPlatform, etc.
  • and related services

  • Experience as a technical lead with proven ability to implement changes across teams and departments
  • Strategic thinking, experience with roadmap and backlog management, and the ability to translate requirements into design
  • Extensive technical expertise and demonstrated experience in planning, designing and implementing / supporting complex enterprise cloud and hybrid solutions using Microsoft 365 and related core technologies
  • Proven experience automating repeatable activities through the use of scripting (e.g. PowerShell)
  • Experience working with application performance monitoring tools to enable optimisation, prevention and troubleshooting e.
  • g. Microsoft Message Centre or automated tools like ELK Stack

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience
  • While not essential, knowledge of the following Microsoft 365 supporting technologies is desirable :

  • Active Directory and Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS),
  • Azure Active Directory
  • Windows 10
  • An understanding of the concepts of service design and agile ways of working will also be highly regarded.
