Our son has complex PTSD and is intellectually handicapped. He loves animals and is easily overwhelmed by social situations, especially with people his own age.
He needs someone who can spend 4 or 5 hours at a time with him doing activities, preferably outside the home, such as dog walking, playing ball or even going to the beach or the zoo.
Sometimes time together may include co-gaming online or taking him to an agreed activity. Our son is a kind and empathetic person who can have regular panic attacks which can result in a rage response.
The trick is to have clear structure and this role is part of providing that structure with pro-social interactions and activities which help to allow him to learn to self-regulate and to build his sense of self-worth.
We are looking for someone who has a long term commitment to building their relationship with our son so that he builds a trusting bond over time.
Tasks and duties include : Organising and taking our son to activities which interest him (going the beach, zoo, park, swimming, window shopping, dog walking.
