About the work

We are establishing an exciting new group within the IT Division at the University of Otago. Focused on the continuous improvement of large strategic technology investments that the University is making in service and customer relationship management.

This forward thinking squad will use modern cloud technologies to solve complex business problems and work in a DevOps agile manner to deliver rapid tactical outcomes in a wide variety of different situations.

Your role will be to lead this new group and will involve working alongside multiple different ITS teams and engaging with University wide stakeholders to deliver end-to-end application configuration and development lifecycle services using cloud-based products.

We think this is an exciting role in the IT portfolio and anyone successful in leading this squad will again have an awesome experience in an enterprise environment and apply a modern skill set to make a significant contribution in the design and implementation of future state technology solutions for one of the largest and most complex IT sites in New Zealand.

What we are looking for

You will be responsible for the leadership of a small full lifecycle DevOps team working in partnership with internal Information Systems groups to bring together resources to deliver the required outcomes.

Ideally, you will bring an energy to the role and will enjoy working in partnership with people as you will be a key point of contact for wider university stakeholders and teams within the ITS Division.

The right person for this role will be :

  • An action oriented individual who enjoys working in a full lifecycle DevOps style environment and is comfortable tackling conversations at all levels.
  • Experience with at least one Agile methodology such as Scrum, Lean, XP is required along with demonstrated application of agile mindset and principles.
  • Experience in technologies that span the Microsoft stack specifically D365 and M365 including low code delivery and cloud architecture and design patterns.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand business requirements and translate them into specifications for a varied audience.
  • Experience working with, and influencing a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Able to deliver metrics to drive information decision making and process change.
  • Must be comfortable managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
