Company DescriptionOur client Drowning Prevention Auckland (DPA) is seeking experienced and skilled Aquatic Educators to join their team in a part-time, fixed-term capacity from October 2021 April 2022.

Hours will be between 20-30 hours per week. DPA delivers Water Skills for Life (WSFL) and is rolling out a Splash Break-Away Holiday Programme.

As such, DPA requires skilled Aquatic Educators to provide drowning prevention education to students.Job DescriptionThis role is pivotal for the water safety space.

DPA was formed with a vision of Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland being free from drowning, which they aim to achieve through improving water competency through education.

The position will deliver water safety programs to our partners and schools to improve students’ knowledge, competence and approach to water safety, resulting in safer enjoyment on and around the water.

QualificationsThe ideal person for this role is someone who has a passion for water safety and education. The key accountabilities for this role are focused on : Providing drowning prevention education across key schools with a delivery of our WSFL and Splash Break-Away Holiday programmesDeveloping and maintaining strong networks within the school space and with other organisations that support drowning prevention educationActing with cultural awareness and competence at all times ensuring that relationships are built and maintained across different culturesAre you the person that we are looking for?

In addition to undertaking the above, you will hold a current workplace first-aid certificate, have a full NZ Drivers’ Licence and be able to swim 200m and tread water or float for 5 minutes.

You will have an exceptional competency and commitment to cultural awareness and have an understanding of New Zealand’s water safety sector.

  • Additional InformationIdeally, you will have : NZC in Aquatics (L3) Swim and Water Safety TeachingA Pool or Surf Lifeguard AwardIdeally, proven key relationships within primary schoolsAdult teaching qualifications and / or experienceOther recent personal and professional development and training;
  • e.g. in sport / recreation, community service, health and safety, injury prevention, cultural competencyWe are looking for someone to join the team who can match the culture of DPA.
