We also provide contractingservices to our partners - other network owners and operators across the NorthIsland.

Due to internalmovement, our Hamilton team is looking for an experienced Line Mechanic to jointhem. This role would predominantly be working on capital project work for ourclients based in the greater Waikato,Bay of Plenty and King Country areas.

The role

Reporting to the Supervisor, your safety and that of others around you is yournumber one priority in this role. You’ll be working on overhead lines and woulddo a variety of tasks such as but not limited to :

  • Undertake line work using best industry practice and to the skill level expected of a qualified Line Mechanic
  • Install and replace electricity network pole structures, overhead conductors and associated distribution equipment
  • Safely and competently drive or operate heavy vehicles such as line trucks and elevating platform vehicle (EPVs)
  • Test lines and low voltage circuits connected to lines
  • Undertake preliminary work in preparation for work that is required to be completed during outages
  • Helping your team and others with other ad hoc tasks to meet work completion deadlines
  • Maintain field paperwork, reports and inspection documentation
  • Compliance with health, safety, environmental and regulatory requirements

    You’llbe working on a variety of exciting projects and will have reasonable amount oftravel and occasional weekend work.

    Tobe successful in this role, it is essential to have the following :

  • NZ Line Mechanic Level 4 qualification with a current NZ EWRB Practicing licence
  • At least two years’ solid experience under your belt with experience in the electricity Distribution sector
  • A valid Class 2 driver’s licence, Class 4 licence (preferable not essential)
  • Physical ability to perform the role
  • Competent in the use of truck mounted cranes and Elevated Platform Vehicles. Having a unit standard in the use of a truck mounted cranes is an advantage
  • A great work attitude and willingness to be part of a diverse team along with a strong focus to health & safety
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure, communicate well and be part of a team
