This leading construction contractor is now in need of an experienced Design Manager to join their Auckland team

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Design Manager to join one of the leading construction contractors in New Zealand.

Based in Auckland, the salary for this position is $100-125k plus benefits. On offer is the opportunity to be part of a growing team, personal growth and challenges along the way with a competitive remuneration and benefits package.

Strong experience of working as a Design Manager on medium to large size construction projects in New Zealand in essential.

This is a great opportunity to utilise your design management and client management expertise within the commercial construction market and be part of Auckland's front line projects.

  • The role entails daily management and co-ordination of design output on projects; leading design meetings; hands-on design of project works;
  • co-ordinating teams, liaising with third parties and working closely with client and project delivery teams from pre-construction to completion on projects across Auckland.

    You must have experience in lodging Resource Consent applications to be considered for this role.

    To be considered for this role you will need to be able to :

  • Undertake Design Management on projects including design and build and pre-construction
  • Work alongside project teams in value management exercises
  • Develop and enforce standards to ensure design services comply with legislative, regulatory and authority requirements
  • Monitor and maintain positive and fruitful relationships as the facilitator between client, consultants and project staff
  • Lead and work as part of the team to ensure Best Practice principles in all activities are being used to achieve operational excellence and planned targets
  • Deliver a professional standard of customer service
  • Maintain a positive and cooperative attitude towards the clients, consultants, management and project team members.
  • Skills and experience the ideal candidate will possess :

  • Tertiary qualification relevant to the field of operation of the position
  • At least 5-8 years design / construction experience
  • Strong knowledge of the Resource Consent application process
  • Very strong design and design management experience
  • Interpretation and application of contracts
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental legislation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience with design and build projects is essential
  • Highly motivated, well organised and committed to the highest possible work standards.
