The role

We are looking for a permanent Statistical and Data Analyst to join the Business Performance team. You will help produce a range of statistics about New Zealand's business sector - from business operations, to technology / innovation and data about Māori businesses.

You will be responsible for leading the production of statistical releases, using your data analysis skills, knowledge of systems and data interpretation skills to create statistical outputs that tell meaningful stories.

Interfacing with customers and other analysts, your role will be to make sure our releases meet our high standards of accuracy and relevance.

You will also be responsive to direct customer requests, and work proactively to improve the efficiency of our production releases.

Starting salary : $66,819 - $78,610 negotiable, dependent on skills and experience.

Location : Wellington or Christchurch

Mōu About you

We would love to hear from you if you have :

  • 1+ years data analysis work experience
  • Experience with data analysis / development tools, such as R, SAS and Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Positive 'can do' attitude and willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • A self-starter with the capability and willingness to adapt to new tools and systems quickly
  • Passion for innovation, trouble-shooting and process improvements
  • Knowledge of or a commitment to learning about Te Ao Māori, to understand and contribute to meaningful work and outcomes for Māori communities
