We have a fantastic opportunity for a Safety & Wellbeing Lead within our People and Culture (P&C) Team on a 10 month contract until the end of January 2023.

In this role you will be responsible for providing timely and pragmatic Safety and wellbeing advice to our clients and the P & C team in relation to all aspects of the employee lifecycle.

This is a standalone position but you will be supported by an experienced and close-knit team of professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing advice and support across all aspects of the Suncorp Group Safety Management System (GSMS) in regards to risk management, incident management, injury management and WH & S compliance.
  • Coordinate case management and rehabilitation of both work and non-work related injuries / illness, collaborating with ACC and the claims rehabilitation team
  • Manage the company's relationships with ACC, WorkSafe NZ and third party providers.
  • Act as an escalation point for our complex safety and wellbeing queries
  • Work with the P & C strategic advice teams to ensure effective implementation and delivery of strategic safety and wellbeing initiatives
  • Identify trends and areas for continuous improvement in self-help tools and opportunities for upskilling / training
  • Audit and report upon company performance against key Safety and Wellbeing metrics
  • What you will need to succeed

  • Tertiary qualification in Health science or related field OR Health and Safety Industry Qualification
  • Registered Nurse accreditation would be desirable but not essential
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in the development and implementation of safety management systems
  • Extensive previous experience in the application of key safety management system activities, such as risk management and incident management
  • Project management experience
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to consult effectively with stakeholders
  • Demonstrated understanding of NZ safety and wellbeing legislative frameworks and processes
