The Role

As one of a team of Registered Nurses, you will play a crucial role in the telephone triage of health-related issues that travelers face day to day - globally.

In summary, you will apply your breadth of medical knowledge to support travelers with proactive and reactive medical advice, coordinate medical partners (airlines, hospitals, health professionals) to assist the patient in returning to their country of origin and / or to a place of medical excellence.

  • Furthermore;
  • You will have demonstrable knowledge and skill with the assessment of individual medical cases and issues
  • Perform initial telephone medical assessment with treating medical team (or review initial written medical report)
  • Take the first call and initial case details for non-insured individuals, airline crew members, and other specific clients
  • Formulate a plan of care with a non-insured individual (i.e. airline crew member) : identifying when a medical assessment is necessary, arranging medical provider, providing a guarantee of payment for foreign providers, and liaising with individuals and employers as required.
  • Monitor on-going cases prioritizing according to medical need, local facilities, the age of patient and cost of care and re-
  • assessed at appropriate intervals

  • Negotiate with treating medical team and assistance coordinator to ensure that medical expenses guaranteed are within the terms of the relevant insurance policy
  • Recognize potential cases at risk from deterioration and ensure appropriate measures are in place to manage ongoing care
  • Notify duty doctor and Operations Manager of very sick, very young / old, pregnant patients and cases requiring high-cost care in order that management of cases may be escalated
  • The Skills Required

    A natural communicator with a key appreciation for detail, you will ideally have good / recent hospital experience (i.e worked in an ED or ICU) where you have been exposed to a large variety of conditions and incidents etc).

    You will be a Registered and practicing Nurse with superior verbal and written English communication skills.
