  • Based in the Viaduct Auckland, Auckland Transport is one of Auckland's lead change making agencies, and over the next ten years will deliver the largest ever investment in safe and healthy streets.

    The agency delivers a wide variety of programmes across Auckland, alongside the provision of the public transport network.

    We are looking for a leader to join us to manage a team of highly passionate staff who are responsible for activating cycling and walking projects in key communities across Auckland whilst promoting safe and healthy travel choices.

    The role

    Leading a team of 7 you will manage the development and delivery of an activation programme for projects that make it easier and safer to travel by foot or by bicycle.

    It will include developing a targeted programme of training in schools and for adults, providing strategic direction for marketing campaigns, and enabling partners and local communities to deliver projects that celebrate healthy streets.

    This will involve :

  • Activation for a programme of infrastructure investment from street upgrades to trials and tactical urbanism opportunities
  • Promoting the pillars of a safe system
  • Delivering a targeted programmes of cycling training
  • Partnering with the community groups, Auckland Council, local boards, NZTA the Police, business and advocate groups
  • Preparing funding plans and ensuring budgets are implemented, monitored, reported and agreed targets met
  • About you

    We are seeking an empowering leader to deliver a programme of activities that activate local communities and inspire people to choose healthy travel choices.

    To enable you to do this you will have the following experience or skills :

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in Place making / / Transport Planning / Education / Marketing / Event Management or related areas
  • Understanding and knowledge of transport planning and urban design, education best practise, urban planning policies, and local government processes
  • Experience managing programmes and projects and using internal and external resources to deliver expected outcomes
  • Experience of working within a political environment and engaging with local communities
  • Understanding of statutory and policy framework for the planning and funding of transport in New Zealand i.e. LTMA, RMA, LGA
  • Experience in use of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook).
