Our projects are exciting, and we’re big on innovation.Flooding is Auckland’s most frequently occurring natural hazard, and in taking on the role of Principal Hydrometric Analytics, you’ll have an integral part to play as you manage the Healthy Waters hydrometric network.
The current network encompasses 52 rain gauge sites, 23 flow sites, and five tidal monitoring sites, covering the entire Auckland region.
As the subject matter expert in hydrometric data and analytics, you’ll own and lead this work.Managing the hydrometric network and the Rain Radars - including the Metservice C-Band data and the Vertical Pointing Radars, post event reporting, developing rainfall forecasting and ensuring design guidance is up to date for extreme rainfall events all fall within your remit.
You’ll also hold key relationships with departments across council, including Auckland Emergency Management; and with Crown Research Institutes, including NIWA, Metservice and GNS.
The scope of your work will also include continuing to enhance the analytics from the hydrometric network in the effort to forecast extreme events before they occur it’s an exciting space.
He kōrero mōu : About youWith a bachelor’s degree in engineering or science, you’ll have previous experience in stormwater management and relevant experience in the three waters infrastructure sector.
As a niche role, success will lie in the combination of your past experience in the field installing and maintaining hydrometric sites, and your solid experience and passion for working with hydrometric data and analytics.
You’ll be someone who can look beyond the data, applying it to bring information and insight to Healthy Waters and other Council departments.
You’ll also have a passion for improving our natural environment, a thirst for ongoing learning and development and an interest in achieving outcomes that benefit and serve our communities.
