The Assistant Hatchery Manager primarily assists Hatchery Manager with oversight of hatchery operations. In addition, will assist in management and coordination of daily activities (i.

e. egg pickup and delivery, care of eggs, incubation and hatching, grading, vaccination, preparation and shipment of chicks).

Primary Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Adhere to Company, Safety, and Animal Welfare policies and procedures
  • Assist in management and coordination of daily chick production and hatchery activities
  • Assist in management of production associates
  • Assist in management of animal welfare program
  • Manage daily deliveries, ensuring adherence to DOT requirements and safety procedures
  • Manage egg inventory, incubation, transfer and equipment, ensuring adherence to Company SOP
  • Oversee adherence to PPE and safety requirements
  • All other relevant duties as required
  • Job Requirements :

  • Bachelor Degree, preferably in Animal Science, Poultry Science or other closely related field
  • 3+ years related Hatchery experience, preferably in leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of animal welfare regulatory requirements
  • Strong technology, computer and math skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, with ability to prioritize tasks while maintaining attention to detail
  • Strong customer-centric attitude, high energy level, and strong sense of urgency
  • Physical / Environmental Factors :

  • Walk, stand and perform physical labor
  • Frequently stoop, kneel, crawl and bend
  • Exposure to temperatures from 60 to 105 degrees, and up to 100% humidity
  • Lift 5+ lbs, and push 75+ lbs
  • Exposure to significant amount of airborne dust and feathers
  • Exposure to chicken manure and associated odors, including ammonia
