About the opportunity

As NPD Technologist and working in our unique Innovation Acceleration team you will enjoy a fast paced and impactful role.

You will support the development of disruptive and unique products and receive ample opportunity for out of box thinking, learning new things and growth, all while working in a cross-functional way.

With a global focus, you will help develop and commercialise new products predominantly outside of Fonterra’s core brands and have a real opportunity to make tangible change.

Some work on core brands will be required.

This role truly offers an innovative and disruptive work environment with plenty of scale.

Operating in a fast-paced environment you will be accountable for supporting product development and commercialisation within accelerated timelines.

Plus, you will have the opportunity to make a tangible contribution to transformational and game changing innovations.

Please note that we are recruiting for two vacancies.

Key responsibilities include :

  • Apply sound product development principles to participate in taking a scoped concept through to launch
  • Ensuring project compliance to existing Fonterra business processes & systems to ensure rapid delivery
  • Develop appropriate internal and external networks to maintain linkages with other innovation and R&D teams
  • Participate actively in the consumer immersion process to enable good alignment of product development activity with consumer needs
  • About you

    We are looking for an autonomous NPD technologist with a strong product commercialisation background to support the development of new products against tight timeframes.

    Able to hit the ground running, you will have a true problem-solving attitude and not be afraid to find your way forward when presented with obstacles.

    You will have previous development experience including formulation prototyping and pilot plant trials, and preferably scaling up to a commercial scale.

    Above all you will have a strong desire to learn.

    In addition, you will have :

  • Tertiary degree in food technology / food science or in a similar field
  • Robust work experience in an NPD / R&D environment of a food company
  • Experience with recipe management system (e.g., Hamilton Grant) and data management system (e.g., SAP) will be an added advantage
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder influencing skills
  • Be passionate about Innovation and enjoy working in a fast paced and unpredictable environment
