    The Education Review Office (ERO) works for the benefit of New Zealand's young children and students.

    The Education Evaluation Centre, Te Ihuwaka, has been created building off our previous work in evaluation and policy, to reflect our increased role in education system evaluation.

    Now is an exciting time to be working for us in the evaluation space and we're excited about the work programme ahead. We're now looking for an evaluation or research professional to fill the final space in our expanded team.

    We're uniquely positioned to provide independent advice on the performance and quality of education in New Zealand and how to improve practice.

    We have specialised evaluation expertise, and a deep connection to schools and services, so we can provide relevant insights and be a catalyst for change on the ground.

  • We can offer you an exciting and varied work programme you might be looking at the overall performance of the education system;
  • doing a deep dive into provision for key groups; linking to international reviews; or working on a thematic review of aspects of the system.

    Our team has a breadth of expertise in research and evaluation, and a culture that is collaborative, supportive and professional.

    About you

    Our senior evaluators are a critical part of our evaluation team they provide technical expertise, plan and lead our evaluation projects, and work with a range of stakeholders.

    We are keen to hear from you if you bring strong evaluation or research experience and a collaborative approach to your work.

    You will be comfortable with ambiguity, driven to succeed and committed to putting children at the heart of the matter. Ideally you'll have a background in social sector research / evaluation.

    Good quantitative skills would be a bonus.

    We have a strong focus on career development so whether you're an experienced senior or someone ready to take a step up to senior, we'd love to hear from you.

    This is your chance to help shape our role in this space, contribute to building the evidence base for education, and to see your work have a real impact on education outcomes.
