We need casual Specialist Youth Worker / Skills Trainers to work on an as required basis with our young people (11 to 16 years) in foster care settings in the Auckland region.
Becoming a Skills Trainer / Specialist Youth Worker provides invaluable experience for those studying social work, psychology or youth work, or is a great opportunity for anyone with experience caring for rangatahi.
You will be required to :
Assist youths to develop and practice skills including, behaviour management, communication, coping and problem-solving skills.
Assist with after school and holiday / day programmes.
Support young people to undertake their daily activities, meet their goals and change their behaviours.
Report on sessions with Young People.
Attend any training as part of the programme.
You will have passion to enhance the lives of young people at risk.
Previous conflict resolution experience and experience in working with young people from a range of cultures would be an advantage.
Ability to provide nurture and structure and to be a strong positive adult role model.
Have a full and clean New Zealand driver's licence.
Be able to pass a clear Ministry of Social Development (MSD) and Police vetting check.
Having interests and skills in sports, music or art is advantage.
