About this role

MOKO services is a Māori clinical service within the Waitematā DHB District Mental Health Services Group. We provide clinical treatment for tangāta whai I te ora accessing our multidisciplinary team with a kaupapa Māori (cultural values and concepts) approach to tāngata whai i te ora Māori who are living in the Waitematā catchment area.

We are looking for a nurse at a senior or expert portfolio level with community experience. A candidate with knowledge of working with tangāta whenua would be ideal.

The clinical nurse specialist role will support our team to develop and concentrate on providing quality community based services to adult tangāta whai i te ora in West Auckland and North Shore.

In this role you will be responsible for contributing advanced mental health nursing knowledge and skills in the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of care provided to tangata whai i te ora.

You will support practice development of clincians in the team by mentoring, coaching and role modelling expert competency in community mental health nursing.

Knowledge of te reo Māori me o ngā tikangā advantageous but not essential as this may be learnt while practicing alongside kaumātua and taurawhiri (cultural advisors).

The preferred candidate will be committed to improving Māori health outcomes and demonstrate an awareness of current issues in relation to health and health equity.
