Trimble is recruiting for a RF Engineer to fill an opportunity in Christchurch, New Zealand.
As a member of the GIS Hardware Engineering team, you are responsible for product design, development, and support. The team takes new products, utilizing GPS & low power radio (eg BT, Wifi & Halo) and with regard to cellular communications, from concept to full production.
The RF Engineer role contributes to product RF circuit design and product improvements, with a particular focus on GPS antenna design and productisation.
Work with team & other RF Engineers designing new products from concept to full production for GPS antennas & receivers.
Help define RF architecture for new products and select / qualify parts
Define & construct Hardware prototypes and testing
Collaborate with layout and PCB engineers
Support manufacturing team and troubleshooting
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including other technical teams
Assist definition of testing for quality control, acceptance and production testing
BSc. Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
Minimum 3 years experience in a similar position
Experience with GPS / GNSS receivers, Satellite transceivers and cellular transceivers
Strong knowledge and experience with RF circuit design and testing
Demonstrated experience in RF Systems design, including architecture definition, stability analysis, noise and power budget analysis, non-
linear response analysis, parts selection and qualification
Have worked with matching networks, corporate feeds, filters (primarily SAW / ceramic) and duplexers
Proven experience in board level optimization of RF circuits, bench measurement equipment including signal generator and spectrum analyzer.
Have worked with wireless communication principles and different modulations used by modern satellite and cellular communication systems
Experience with RF simulation and familiarity with industry standard tools such as ADS and Matlab
Demonstrated experience with various aspects of PCB design including schematic capture, layout and fabrication processes
Experience with compliance and testing standards such as FCC, ETSI and MIL standards
Demonstrated experience in effectively synthesizing and presenting results in technical proposals and design documentation.
Strong fabrication, and prototyping abilities including soldering and assembly
Exceptionally detailed oriented and excellent communication skills; both verbal & written
Ability to work as part of the team whilst also able to self motivate and work independently when required.
