    What will I be doing?

    This is where you come in! Whānau are at the heart of everything we do so you’ll be playing a key role in building relationships with our children and families here at BestStart Nottingham Avenue.

    BestStart Nottingham Avenue is licenced for 53 children and is situated in two residential houses. This unique centre helps to provide a home-like environment and is situated with a large outdoor area.

    Our homely centre is a long-established service within the community that offers care and education for children aged 3 months to 6 years.

    Our centre consists of three dedicated age-appropriate classrooms within two converted houses, each with their own adjoining, well-established gardens, trees and playgrounds, so children can connect with one another in different areas of the centre throughout the day.

    We are open Monday - Friday from 7.30-6.00.

    The position advertised will be in the Preschool Room, which caters for up to 24 children approximately 3.5 -6 years. The successful applicant will be working with two experienced, qualified teachers.

    Through the close relationships they have formed with teachers and peers, children in this room are encouraged to be responsible, respectful, and contributing learners.

    The children lead their own learning, and are very resourceful, practical learners who are eager to learn, and who are encouraged to actively explore their environment, under close supervision and with a degree of controlled risk.

    This is a permanent full time position working 32-40 hours per week in the pre-school classroom

    Role requirements :

  • Currently in second or third year of study towards a Bachelor of Education (Level 7)
  • Passionate about pursuing a career in Early Childhood
  • Strong understanding of of programme planning, pedagogy, ECE regulations and curriculum
  • Excellent communication and literacy skills
  • Strength in positive behaviour and guidance strategies
  • Reliable, punctual, professional and a great sense of humour
