What you will do

As the Leader - Maintenance and Reliability you’ll be responsible for the development and ongoing refinement of NZDF non-platform equipment maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) methodologies and reliability systems.

You’ll drive the organisation toward a reliability culture through organisational and strategic leadership across all many complex MRO systems through the application of your engineering expertise.

What we need

You’ll bring a thorough understanding of, and experience with, leading maintenance and reliability practice and how it supports effective Asset Management and Integrated Logistics Support, with a well-developed understanding of Reliability Centred Maintenance.

As an experienced people leader you will be skilled in developing others, leading multiple teams and managing multiple stakeholder expectations.

You’ll have outstanding presentation skills, coupled with a high level of communication, interpersonal, negotiation and facilitation skills which you can adapt to suit to all levels and complexities.

You will also bring :

  • The ability to operate interchangeably at both the strategic and operational service delivery levels of an organisation;
  • Sound knowledge and demonstrated practical application of Reliability Best Practice Business Frameworks and teachings;
  • Analytical and problem solving skills, including the ability to effectively use complex maintenance and reliability data to provide strategic and robust insights.
  • Ideally you’ll also have a tertiary qualification in an engineering discipline and / or a technology degree, as well as a certification in Reliability Engineering and be a member of a relevant professional body / organisation.

    In addition to the above, you’ll hold a full and clean NZ Class 1 Driver’s Licence, have the ability to travel within NZ and overseas, and work outside of core hours when required.

    The Defence Equipment Management Organisation (DEMO) is an asset management organisation responsible for providing proactive, responsive and effective strategic in-service equipment fleet management and full life-cycle integrated logistic support (ILS) advice to support delivery of the NZDF’s outputs.

    Our focus is on equipment and related commodities and consumables, and ensuring they are available at the right time and standard to enable the Army, Air Force and Navy to achieve the right effect.
