The opportunity

We are looking for a Graduate with STEM tertiary qualifications to join our growing national team, in Wellington, New Zealand.

Drawing on your STEM technical knowledge gained from your education, you will advise and support our clients in accessing R&D tax incentives, government grants and other innovation / growth incentives.

You will engage with scientific / technology-active companies to understand their development objectives and drivers, analysing complex project information to assess eligibility for the R&D tax incentive and other government grants.

Working in high performing teams, you will prepare detailed work papers and reports to help deliver exceptional results to EY’s clients and play a pivotal role in supporting innovation and growth in the NZ economy.

Your key responsibilities

  • Advise and support clients in accessing government grants and tax incentives to support their R&D and innovation processes
  • Analysing complex scientific / technological project information to assess eligibility for government support
  • Preparing detailed summaries of our client’s research and development activities across various fields of science / technology
  • Provide tax advice and expertise to a range of science / technology-active and innovative companies across multiple industries
  • Skills and attributes for success

  • Genuine interest in business, innovation and science / technology
  • Business and technical writing skills with the ability to articulate complex information clearly
  • Strong verbal communication skills and ability to articulate complex information to a range of stakeholders will be key
  • Strong relationship builder with excellent influencing and questioning skills
  • Problem solving skills and ability to work with complex and detailed information
  • Ability to analyse numerical data in excel
  • Business acumen and commercial awareness to participate in business development including client pursuit initiatives
  • Proven ability to work well in high performing team environments
  • A curious mindset and the ability to work with ambiguity to help shape and form an opinion
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a field of science, technology, or engineering
  • Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Some work experience in a business or academic environment, but experience working in a field of science / technology is not a pre-requisite
