About the role

The Director Covid-19 is a inspiring role requiring you to develop and set the strategy for the often changing environment.

You will be required to to assist in early identification and respond to emerging issues to achieve key outcomes, while working alongside and with key strategic stakeholders.

Providing high quality impartial Covid-19 advice to Ministers, ensuring effective leadership of direct and indirect reports and working collaboratively with internal and external teams.

To be successful, you will understand risks, demonstrate political acumen and savviness to support robust decision-making (intelligence led decisions).

You will provide leadership on the development, interpretation and application of policy on ambiguous multi-sector issues with significant sensitivity and risk.

You will set and drive priorities. Working flexibly, you will be prepared to manage the demands and support the team through the challenges that this unique situation can bring.

The role also ensures we have structures in place to draw on the skills and capability of the wider Ministry for any surge of Covid-19 work.

The Ministry of Transport is taking on a new direction - it's not just about roads and rail. Transport affects every area of our society and we need to think in broad terms.

You'll be strategically considering how policies can shape the vital transportation system as a whole.

What you'll bring

You'll bring proven senior policy leadership experience and the ability to influence and motivate others in a positive and constructive way, working effectively with other government agencies and with people from a wide range of different cultures and backgrounds.

You will use sound judgement to communicate and resolve issues effectively.

Along with your demonstrated organisational and planning abilities you will have excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality.

Confident in maintaining regular reporting on progress, performance, risks / issues, and planning, you'll have the ability to influence and lead change and process improvement to achieve measurable impact.

Your strong relationship building, and stakeholder management background will be critical to your success. You will bring the capability to support, engage and motivate a high-performing team to meet ambitious goals, having managed both directly and indirectly.

The salary range for this role is : $184,779 - $244,372.
