We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced senior lawyer with high levels of integrity and professionalism to join our supportive and collegial team, in providing quality legal services for the Ministry of Social Development.

Experience in social security law is preferrable, and strong coaching and mentoring skills are essential. We are looking for a senior lawyer who would enjoy helping our internal clients to make great decisions while supporting the growth and development of their colleagues.

All our lawyers also have the opportunity to assist across the areas undertaken by the broader legal team.

  • is curious, analytical and has an eye for detail
  • has experience providing high quality advice on operational, policy and legislative proposals
  • has experience instructing the Parliamentary Counsel Office on legislative amendments
  • provides clear legal advice on complex issues
  • has strong research, writing and drafting skills
  • enjoys working collaboratively and has excellent relationship building skills
  • has excellent sense-making and critical thinking abilities
  • has experience and an interest, in coaching and mentoring more junior colleagues
