The Older Persons Mental Health Inpatient Unit, atAlexandra Hospital in Richmond, provides psychiatric and geriatric care for theolder members of our community.
We aspire to provide high quality inpatientcare to patients with acute mental health needs and / or complex age relatedhealth conditions.
We work in partnership with our patients, their families,the clinical team and community carers and supports to achieve the bestpossible health outcome for the patient.
As a Mental Health Assistant your role is to workwith the team to provide basic nursing care under the supervision and directionof Registered Nurses.
This can include working with challengingbehaviours.
As this is a casual position it will be important that you have the flexibility and availability to cover a range of shifts, sometimes at short notice.
You'll be required to work across morning, afternoon and nightshifts. This includes weekends and school holidays. Some forward planning and rostering will be available when covering planned leave.
Please notethat there are no guarantee minimum hours of employment for casual employees.

We are looking for someone with excellentcommunication skills, who has experience in older persons health care, and hasan affinity with the elderly.
It is equally important that you are able to workin a flexible and methodical manner, demonstrate honesty and reliability anduse appropriate initiative.
