About the Role

As our Senior Ranger Community, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of a high-quality community programme which will expand conservation in Canterbury, supporting our iwi and conservation community to be kaitiaki, and creating a legacy for our tamariki.

You will be responsible for :

  • Supporting the implementation of Jobs for Nature and Predator Free 2050, where you will be support community groups to lead conservation projects in our district;
  • Taking a lead role in the Districts whanau, hapu, and iwi relationship management;
  • Development of new, and management of existing relationships with all District partnerships;
  • Supporting the District Team through community focused work planning and reporting;
  • Supporting the Biodiversity and Recreation / Historic programmes in their work with individuals, groups and organisations;
  • Promoting conservation, lifting awareness, and working with others to advocate for the District's natural, historic and cultural heritage.

  • Ability to design and implement programmes;
  • Ability to recognize new opportunities, ideas, and trends, and use them to best advantage;
  • Strong project management and event organisation skills;
  • Exceptional relationship management skills;
  • Experience working in natural heritage or conservation management;
  • Understanding of Tikanga and experience working within a Mātauranga Maori context;
  • Experience with writing funding applications, deeds, and contracts;
  • Someone who is media savvy with excellent skills in presenting information clearly, concisely, and appropriately;
  • A full, clean drivers license.
